ASTRA-X-AUTO: Vehicle Telemetry & Analytics System

ASTRA-X-AUTO: End-to-End Vehicular Telemetry, Statistical Diagnostics, and LLM-Ready Analytical Orchestration

ASTRA-X-AUTO is a vertically-integrated telemetry and analytics stack engineered to transform unstructured vehicular sensor emissions into a mathematically governed data pipeline. The system ingests OBD-II metrics, enforces schema-level invariants, executes deterministic statistical reductions, performs deviation detection under configurable parametric bounds, and synthesizes a structured analytical ledger suitable for downstream reasoning engines. Unlike traditional consumer telematics dashboards or vendor-locked “MOE-style black boxes” that merely expose aggregated visualizations, ASTRA-X-AUTO implements a reproducible, self-contained analytical chain where every transformation is explicitly traceable, parametrically tunable, and deployable on commodity hardware without proprietary dependencies.

1. Technical Motivation and Differentiation

Commodity MOE-flavored “analytics” platforms typically conflate the inference layer with the data-conditioning layer, obscuring the transformations applied to the raw metrics. ASTRA-X-AUTO rejects that paradigm. The system explicitly decouples:

  • Sensor sampling: <timestamp, metric, value, gps>
  • Persistence: Append-only relational storage under constraint-checked schemas
  • Statistical primitives: μ (mean), M (median), m (mode), σ (std), IQR-based bounds
  • Deviation logic: Hard and soft thresholds applied per-metric
  • Semantic harmonization: Conversion of numeric observations into interpretable analytical tokens
  • LLM-ready formatting: Deterministic construction of a canonical diagnostic summary

This separation produces a system whose behavior remains mathematically auditable. Unlike black-box vehicular ML models that rely on opaque latent representations, ASTRA-X-AUTO exposes the entire computational graph—from ingestion to structured analytics.

2. Architectural Synopsis

The stack is engineered around five deterministic subsystems:

2.1 Ingestion Fabric

The ingestion API accepts atomic sensor payloads defined as:

{
  "t": unix_ts,
  "m": "metric_id",
  "v": numeric_value,
  "lat": float,
  "lon": float
}

Every insert path enforces metric-specific validity constraints, preventing malformed telemetry from polluting the analytical surface.

2.2 Local Database Layer

Data is persisted in an ACID-compliant engine, enabling:

  • Deterministic replays
  • Point-in-time reconstruction
  • Index-based retrieval for dashboard views

This design avoids the data drift that typically plagues systems built on in-memory buffers or unbounded log sinks.

2.3 Statistical & Outlier Detection Engine

For each metric x, the following reductions are computed over window W:

μ = (1/n) Σ x_i
M = median(x_i)
IQR = Q3 - Q1
UpperBound = Q3 + k * IQR
LowerBound = Q1 - k * IQR

An observation is classified as deviant if:

x < LowerBound  OR  x > UpperBound

This scheme is resilient against non-Gaussian distributions and adapts to observed variance, unlike static thresholding.

2.4 LLM-Ready Analytical Ledger

The system constructs a canonical JSON envelope representing the analytical state:

{
  "stats": {...},
  "outliers": [...],
  "geo_clusters": [...],
  "temporal_patterns": {...}
}

This deterministic formatting enables downstream inference layers to operate on a normalized analytical substrate instead of raw time-series noise.

2.5 Web Dashboard

A multi-pane visualization environment presents:

  • Temporal charts of sensor metrics
  • Geospatial scatterplots of flagged anomalies
  • Configurable parameter ranges
  • Full raw-data inspection

The dashboard is intentionally decoupled from the analytics pipeline, ensuring that presentation does not influence analytical correctness.

3. Deployment Pipeline

The stack is deployable on any home server with Docker. The provided PowerShell wrapper performs:

  1. Container rebuild (optional)
  2. Volume initialization
  3. Network binding
  4. Service startup on port 8000

This guarantees a reproducible environment regardless of host OS or Python environment drift.

4. Future Expansion Trajectory

  • Real vehicular OBD-II acquisition via BLE dongle
  • Event-driven anomaly classification and routing
  • Higher-order clustering of geo-temporal deviations
  • Predictive modeling for system-level component degradation
  • Graph-structured sensor correlation mapping

All future expansions maintain strict compatibility with the analytical grammar established in the current pipeline.
